In October 2023, Synomebio (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was officially selected as a supported project under the first batch of proposed initiatives for the 2023 "Invest First, Equity Later" pilot program in Baoshan District, Shanghai, as announced in the public notice. This marks the first synthetic biology enterprise in Baoshan District to receive approval for the "Invest First, Equity Later" initiative.

Synomebio, as a startup in the field of synthetic biology, is positioned to provide high-quality enzyme engineering products and solutions to meet the demands for safety, cost-effectiveness, and sustainable development in life sciences research, diagnostics and therapeutics, food, and other industrial applications. Being selected for the "Invest First, Equity Later" policy initiative will effectively facilitate the transformation of its scientific and technological achievements into real-world productivity. It will also provide robust technological support for Baoshan District and Nanda Smart City in establishing a new highland for synthetic biology development.

The "Invest First, Equity Later" pilot policy is an innovative reform initiative launched by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology to promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Currently, only Baoshan District in Shanghai has undertaken the "Invest First, Equity Later" pilot reform task. This policy primarily targets specific scientific and technological achievement transformation projects. Initially, a certain amount of financial support is provided to the target enterprise in the form of funding for scientific and technological projects. When the target enterprise undergoes market-oriented equity financing, the invested financial support is converted into corresponding equity, held by district-owned state-owned companies. The equity is retained for a period of time as the enterprise grows, after which an exit strategy is executed. Since its introduction, this policy has become a "golden hallmark" of innovation in Baoshan District.
